Honors Degree Program

The St. Clair County Community College Honors Program is designed to satisfy the needs of students who are hard-working and self-motivated, are curious and appreciate exploring a topic in depth, and enjoy strong interaction with instructors and fellow students. A student may earn an Honors degree in any associate degree program.

Honors courses cover all the requirements of a regular course but probe the subject matter in greater depth, focusing less on lecture and more on active student involvement in the class, and encouraging greater student-teacher and student-student interaction.

Honors courses offer a more interesting and challenging program than regular courses though they are not generally graded on a higher standard or require more work.

Students who qualify for the Honors Program may wish to take only a few courses or may satisfy program requirements to obtain an Honors Associate Degree. For the Honors degree, students must meet all other regular degree requirements with an overall 3.00 GPA or better.

Students can apply to the Honors program as incoming freshmen or as returning students to SC4.
