Bachelor of Arts Degree - Elementary Education Saginaw Valley State University is authorized by the state of Michigan to recommend students for initial certifications at the elementary level, grades kindergarten through eight (K-8). As such, the elementary education degree plan includes course work in the following areas: General Educations, specialty studies, and professional education. SC4 and SVSU agree that any student who successfully completes the course requirements as delineated, may transfer up to 70 credit hours toward the Bachelor's of Arts/Elementary Education at SVSU. A maximum of 62 credit hours will be awarded upon acceptance to the SVSU Teacher Education Program. The Elementary Education degree program consists of the following: - Basic Skills

Elementary Teacher Certification Program Saginaw Valley State University is authorized by the State of Michigan to recommend students for initial certification at the elementary level (kindergarten through grade 8). The SC4/SVSU Program for Elementary Teacher Certification is for students who have a bachelor's degree but who do not have teacher certification. The Elementary Certification program consists of the following: - Two Academic Minors and one planned program minor (specialized subject areas)

Secondary Teacher Certification Program Saginaw Valley State University is authorized by the State of Michigan to recommend students for initial certification at the secondary level (grades 6-12).
The SC4/SVSU Program for Secondary Teacher Certification is for students who have not yet completed a bachelor's degree as well as for students who have a bachelor's degree, but who do not have teacher certification. For students who are working toward their bachelor's degree, a maximum of 62 credits may be transferred from an accredited community college. The Secondary Certification program consists of the following: - Basic Skills
- General Education
- One Academic Major and One Academic Minor (specialized subject areas)
