St. Clair County Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts Department presents an annual Thursday at Noon Concert Series offering a variety of talent and musical styles. Click here for a full-color PDF of SC4's complete printed arts calendar for 2012-13. 2012-13 concert schedule | Thursday, Sept. 20 Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan presents: A Taste of Opera Naomi Ruiz, soprano Jason Wickson, tenor Jean Renee Schneider, piano Naomi Ruiz is rapidly gaining recognition for her “energetic stage presence” and her “darkly hued, ravishing voice.” Jason Wickson most recently was seen as the tenor soloist in Michigan Opera Theatre’s production of “Carmina Burana” in collaboration with the famed Cirque du Soleil. Jean Renee Schneider, a gifted recital accompanist, performs frequently with singers throughout North America, Europe and Asia. | Thursday, Jan. 24 Mary Hackstock and Laura Reynolds piano duo Join Mary Hackstock, SC4 adjunct faculty member, and Laura Reynolds as they intermingle their talents to perform an innovative program. | | Thursday, Oct. 25 Davanti Jessica Cech, flutist Ina Yoon, pianist Flutist Jessica Cech and pianist Ina Yoon will be performing recent works from 20th century composers. Kittel has won multiple U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championships and six Detroit Music Awards for both folk and jazz. He has released three highly acclaimed solo CDs. Upon graduating at age 20 from the University of Michigan School of Music, he was awarded the Stanley Medal, the school’s highest honor. | Thursday, March 28 Faculty String Trio from Grand Valley State University Spend an hour experiencing this string trio, as they create an enchanting performance of classical music, and you will be a fan for life. | Thursday, Dec. 6 Dave Bennett’s Quartet plays Benny Goodman Dave Bennett, with his All-Star Quartet, will play Benny Goodman’s big hits and “swing-era” classics: “Moonglow”; “I’ve Got Rhythm”; “Body and Soul”; “Slipped Disc”; “Sing, Sing, Sing”; and many others.
